UOWD Alumni Awards 2022: Spotlight on Excellence

On 21 September 2023, the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) convened at the UOW Data Science, Discovery, and Innovation Centre, Expo City, to honour its distinguished alumni. This prestigious event recognized trailblazers in the realms of Professional Excellence, Research & Innovation, Inspiring Women, Young Alumni, and Social Impact.
The collective impact of these award winners has been nothing short of transformative. As ambassadors of UOWD, they have seamlessly bridged local initiatives with global platforms, catalysing change, fostering collaborations, and elevating standards of excellence in their respective domains. Their influence resonates not only within the immediate communities they serve but also ripples outwards, reflecting the global footprint of UOWD's alumni network. They stand as testament to the institution's commitment to nurturing leaders who shape the world, both locally and internationally.
Dr Feras Hamza initiated the ceremony, representing Professor Mohamed Salem, and highlighted the global impact of UOWD's alumni. Taking the stage after, Professor Patricia Davidson underscored the significance of the alumni's achievements, stating, "Tonight we celebrate the brilliance of our alumni who shine bright in global arenas! From leading roles in Fortune 500 giants to influential governmental positions, and pioneering change in impactful organizations — our graduates are truly world-class."

- Social Impact: Ms Dana Amr - Acclaimed for her profound dedication to fostering positive societal change.
- Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship: Ms Isidora Peric - Honored for her pioneering work with FitFace, championing both facial aesthetics and mental well-being.
- Professional Excellence: Dr Aashish Sharma - Celebrated for catapulting Nepali businesses to global recognition.
- Young Alumni: Ms Priya Aswani - Praised for her swift ascent in the tech world and her commendable community involvement.
- Inspiring Women: Ms Sarra Lajnef - A dual-achiever in the realms of sports and business, having made her mark as an Olympic swimmer.
Concluding the event, attendees were treated to a memorable Q&A with cricket luminary, Adam Gilchrist. This celebration encapsulated not only the personal triumphs of its awardees but also the core values of ambition, resilience, and excellence championed by UOWD.
