About IELTS
IELTS is a highly regarded international test of English language proficiency. It is owned in partnership with IDP IELTS Australia, the British Council and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.
IELTS is recognised by professional bodies, academic institutions, immigration authorities and government agencies alike as a dependable and practical test of English. It is primarily used by people seeking an international education, professional development, or by those seeking to satisfy migration requirements and is accepted by thousands of organisations in over 135 countries.
UOWD is an official International Test Centre for IELTS in the UAE and works in collaboration with IDP Australia. UOWD has been administering tests since 2000. Computer-delivered tests are conducted three times a day six days a week Paper-based test is conducted weekly. Test staff and examiners are IELTS trained, bringing many years of professional experience in administering the test and examining candidates. UOWD also administers IELTS testing in Ras Al Khaimah.
Academic or General Training?
IELTS has two formats – Academic and General Training. You will need to know which format of the test to take when you complete the IELTS Application Form. If you plan to study in higher education or seek professional registration, you can take an IELTS Academic test. Or if you want to study in secondary education, work or migrate to an English-speaking country, IELTS General Training might be right for you. If you are in doubt, contact the organisation or institution to which you are applying to find out what it requires.
Test Format
IELTS has four modules – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Listening, Reading and Writing tests are done in one sitting. The Speaking test may be on the same day or up to seven days before or after the other tests. You will be advised of the time for your speaking interview when you apply.
There are two types of IELTS Test formats Computer-delivered and Paper-based.
- Computer-delivered: In this format, the IELTS test is taken on a computer, and the Reading, Writing, and Listening sections are done on-screen, while the Speaking test is conducted face-to-face with an examiner.
- Paper-based: In this format, the IELTS test taker uses pen and paper for all sections, including Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking, with the Speaking test conducted face-to-face with an examiner.

About Computer-delivered IELTS test
The Computer-delivered IELTS test offers a modern and convenient way to assess English language proficiency for individuals seeking academic or professional opportunities. This format of the IELTS allows test-takers to complete the Reading, Writing, and Listening sections on a computer, providing a user-friendly and interactive experience. With the Speaking test still conducted face-to-face with an examiner
UOWD offers Computer-delivered IELTS tests in two convenient locations – one at UOWD campus, providing daily tests and faster results, and another at the Experts Training Centre in Deira.
Computer-delivered IELTS Test fee: AED 1260 (VAT Inclusive)
PLEASE NOTE that you are about to register for a Standard IELTS exam. For IELTS UKVI registration, click on the following link. If you register for a standard IELTS instead of the UKVI IELTS test, you must email [email protected].ae about the error 72 hours prior to the date of the test. The test centre will provide guidelines for processing a refund of the test fee. Please note that an administration processing fee of 25% of the test fee will be deducted. If you do not inform the test centre 72 hours prior to the date of the test, you will not be eligible to a refund.

IELTS Transfer, Cancellation and Refund Policy
Request for cancellation or postponement of your IELTS test must be made strictly 5 weeks before the test date via Email or in person only. Telephone cancellation or postponement will not be accepted.
If you requested cancellation more than five weeks ahead of the test date, you will receive a full refund.
If you requested transfer or cancellation less than five weeks ahead of the test date you will receive no refund. If unforeseen circumstances prevent you from taking your test, you are eligible for a refund (less 25% administrative fee). if you can provide evidence within 5 days of your test that your ability to sit the test will be or has been affected by serious illness or cause, such as:
- Serious Illness – hospital admission or serious injury
- Loss or Bereavement – death of a close family member
- Hardship/Trauma – victim of a crime, victim of a traffic accident
- Loss of job
- Military Service
You must complete a “Request for Refund” or “Test Day Transfer Form” and attach appropriate documentation and/or evidence, such as a medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner, a death notice or certificate or a police report. Please send an email to [email protected] and the team will share the transfer and refund form with you.
Note: Failure to appear for the test without notification is considered a cancellation, no refund will be issued, and you must register and pay again if you wish to take the test on another date.
The Request for a Refund and Test Day Transfer are subject to verification before approval or rejection.

The paper-based IELTS test is traditional format of IELTS which allows test-takers to complete all sections – Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking – using pen and paper. With the Speaking test conducted face-to-face with an examiner, the paper-based IELTS test offers a reliable and comprehensive evaluation of language skills, making it an excellent choice for individuals.

IELTS preparation course
This IELTS preparation course is designed to help you get ready for the Academic IELTS test to enter the University of Wollongong in Dubai's undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Free IELTS Masterclass
The IELTS Masterclass is a free, 90-minute class designed to support individuals aiming to achieve an IELTS band score of 6 or above. It is intended to help IELTS candidates improve their understanding of the IELTS test requirements and assessment criteria.

IELTS Results
You can check your IELTS results online (to access your results you need to enter your Candidate ID issued on the test date, your date of birth and registered ID).
Results for Paper and Computer IELTS tests
- Results for IELTS on paper is released within 13 days after your written test.
- Results for IELTS on computer will be available 3 – 5 days after your test.
If you have taken your test at UOWD, you can collect the hard copy of your Test Result Form (TRF) from the UOWD Campus, first floor Counter #9. The office is open from Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please carry your original ID document i.e. Passport or EID at the time of collection.
If you have taken your Computer - delivered IELTS test at Experts Training Centre Deira, Business Village B, you can collect the hard copy of your Test Result Form (TRF) from Business Village B, Deira 4th floor - Main Reception Counter. From Tuesday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please carry your original ID document i.e. Passport or EID at the time of collection.
If you would like to authorise someone to collect your IELTS (TRF) you need to send an IELTS Authorisation Form, a copy of your passport and the person collecting must present an original photo ID and a copy of the same for our records.
You will receive only one original TRF. You can request up to 5 copies of your TRF to be sent to IELTS recognising organisations free of charge electronically. Results can be sent to additional organisations for a courier fee of AED 131.25 (Inclusive of VAT) for each recipient, within one month of the result date.
Additional copies or copies requested after one month from the result date will incur a fee of AED 52.50 (Inclusive of VAT) per TRF and a courier fee of AED 131.5 (Inclusive of VAT) for each recipient.
The Test Result Form are valid for two years from the Test Date.

IELTS SMS and Courier Service
Candidates can get their IELTS results via SMS on the same date the results are published. This service is FREE of charge.
Registered candidates can also request for their IELTS TRF to be sent directly to their home address. Courier charges AED 52.00 (within the UAE) and (International) AED 131.25 will apply. If you would like to apply for this service, contact us at [email protected]
Enquiry on Results - Policy and Fee
If you are not happy with your result, you can request a review of your score(s) through a service called an Enquiry on Results (EOR) within six weeks after the date. EOR request received after 6 weeks of the test date, cannot be processed.
You will need to complete the IELTS Enquiry on Results Form and submit the original TRF. A fee of AED 577.50 (Inclusive of VAT) is charged. The outcome will be available 3 to 21 days (depending on several factors including the number of sections requested for re-mark) The fees will be refunded in full if your result changes to a higher band score.
