Innovation in Education: UOWD Launches the First Master of Digital Transformation in the Region

The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) recently celebrated the official launch of the Master of Digital Transformation program. This initiative is a testament of UOWD’s dedication to imparting high-quality education that is at the frontier of technological advancement.
The Master of Digital Transformation program is designed to encapsulate more than just the technological aspect of digital transformation. It represents a harmonious blend of innovation, adaptability, and a profound understanding of technology’s multifaceted impact on businesses and society.
As expressed by Dr May ElBarachi, Head of School of Computer Science, “Digital transformation isn't just about technology; it's about the possibilities that technology unlocks, the challenges it presents, and the profound impact it has on businesses and society as a whole. It is this spirit of innovation, adaptability, and collaboration that our program embodies.”
Created in partnership with IBM, this program blends academia and industry insights and aims to produce well-rounded professionals who can bridge the gap between business and IT.
The event was further enhanced by the esteemed presence of distinguished dignitaries and industry leaders from various sectors, who emphasized the critical role of digital transformation in shaping the trajectory of the region's future.
The audience enjoyed a visionary talk by Mr Moe Abeidat, Group Vice President of Technology at Aramex, on the transformative dimensions of digital innovation in today's business landscape.
The guests also benefitted from a session by Wouter Oosterbosch – Chief Data Scientist and Associate Partner at IBM, about the strategic importance of a data-driven approach in digital transformation.
The event then continued with an enriching panel discussion, entitled “Driving Digital Transformation Across Industries: Insights from Thought Leaders", moderated by Dr May ElBarachi, featuring industry leaders Sabine Holl (CTO and VP Technical Sales at IBM), Manal Allam (CIO at Merck), and Moe Abeidat (Group Vice President of Technology at Aramex).
The event facilitated valuable networking opportunities between attendees and experts in digital transformation.
