UOWD Career Fair 2025: Bridging Talent with Opportunity
Friday, 16 May, 2025
The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) proudly hosted its annual Career Fair this year, bringing together over 50 leading employers and over 800 students and alumni for a dynamic day of networking, discovery, and career-building opportunities.
The 2025 edition of the Career Fair marked a significant milestone in university-industry collaboration, with a strong representation across a wide range of sectors. Notable new participants included Majid Al Futtaim, Pfizer Gulf, AWRostamani, Parsons, BNC Network, Deloitte, Alpin Limited, and Tecnicas Reunidas, joining a line-up of returning employers who have consistently supported the event over the years.
A Growing Interest in Tech-Driven Sectors
This year’s fair saw increased participation from companies operating in Cybersecurity, Software & Robotics, IT, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Finance & Accounting, Sales & Marketing, Media, and Logistics & Supply Chain. Employers also showed heightened interest in candidates with skills in AI, data analytics, sustainability, and automation—underscoring a shift in hiring priorities toward emerging technologies and future-forward capabilities.
Preparing Students for Real-World Success
In the lead-up to the fair, the Careers and Alumni team organized a Career Fair Preparation Week to ensure students were ready to make the most of the experience. Workshops on CV writing, job search strategies (led by Danfoss), and The CV Clinic (conducted by Nestlé and Zomato) helped equip attendees with the confidence and professionalism employers consistently praised throughout the day.
Connecting Talent to Market Demand
From informal conversations to formal recruitment discussions, employers commended UOWD students for their adaptability, digital fluency, communication skills, and proactive approach. Many recruiters shared that they had previously hired UOWD graduates and now actively return in search of new talent.
Students, in turn, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to connect with a diverse range of companies in one setting—many leaving with clearer career pathways and potential leads for internships or full-time roles.
One of the most memorable highlights of the event was seeing UOWD alumni return—not as students, but as recruiters—representing the organizations they now work for. This speaks volumes about the long-term impact of a UOWD education and the strength of our alumni network in the professional world.
Looking Ahead
Employers shared enthusiastic feedback about internships and job opportunities, highlighting strong interest in recruiting UOWD students. Beyond the fair, students will continue to engage with employers through a range of activities, including industry panels, company presentations, field trips, guest lectures, and job shadowing opportunities.
As the UAE’s job market continues to evolve, events like the UOWD Career Fair reaffirm our commitment to preparing graduates who are not only technically skilled but also globally minded, innovative, and ready to thrive in fast-changing industries.
