Functions of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE)
OIE is responsible for meeting the information needs of our internal and external customers.

The ability of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to deliver information efficiently and effectively to UOWD decision makers is critical. The goal of OIE is to ensure requested information is presented in a logical, coherent and understandable manner to reduce the time and increase the ability of our customers to make informed and accurate decisions.
The functions of this Office can be categorized in to the following areas of responsibility:
1. Quality Assurance
UOWD is committed to excellence in all facets of academia and administration. OIE is responsible for providing a clear and accurate representation of this excellence. OIE takes a pro-active approach to ensure that UOWD meets or exceeds the specified standards and requirements across all areas of our business. Our Office serves as a conduit via which information on outcomes and needs analyses can be generated and/or sourced.
2. Policy Development
OIE works closely with all departments, within UOWD, to identify, develop and assess the effectiveness of current practices. Monitoring and evaluating the intended and unforeseen consequences of our policies and reporting these to policy makers is paramount.
3. Program Evaluation
Regular program evaluation is fundamental in ensuring UOWD delivers excellence in education. Program Evaluation focuses on UOWD's ability to provide students with the knowledge and skills they require, to embark on successful careers, whilst meeting the needs of employers. OIE is a resource able to assist in the design, implementation and evaluation of UOWD programs.
4. Student Enrollment and Retention Analysis
Analysis of student admissions, enrolments, retention rates and graduation rates is crucial for the effective functioning of UOWD. OIE provides valuable information for decision makers in relation to student numbers and student success.
5. Survey Research
Survey Research represents a major component of the responsibilities of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness. Student, staff, graduate and employer opinions are vital in determining the future directions of UOWD. OIE will contribute to the development of surveys and the analysis of their results.
6. Forecasting / Trend Analysis
OIE is committed to the goal of continuous improvement. In order to achieve this goal we take a proactive approach to identify trends in the education environment. Through sourcing and evaluating the integrity of data, we facilitate accurate management planning.
7. Benchmarking
Developing and comparing UOWD performance with educational institutions through benchmarking is a key priority. OIE will assist in improving performance via its research and reporting of key performance indicators.
8. Committee Involvement
OIE displays its effectiveness through communication and teamwork. In order to demonstrate its added value to all departments within UOWD it is prudent to participate in various committees and working parties. This ensures that information needs can be identified and satisfied appropriately.
9. External Reporting
As a key source of data and information within UOWD, OIE is responsible for researching and preparing various reports to relevant external parties.
10. Market Evaluation
Market evaluation and environmental awareness are core responsibilities within OIE. Timely and thorough research of the business climate is critical to effective planning and decision making. OIE will facilitate, compile and report on market data relevant to UOWD activities.
11. Miscellaneous Projects
On occasion, as deemed necessary by UOWD management, OIE will enthusiastically participate in and contribute to, various projects which generate specific information requirements.
